Beatrice Perini
was born in Venice, Italy (1958), where she graduated at the Academy of Fine
Arts. Ms. Perini worked and studied for six years at the studio of the grand
Italian master Emilio Vedova. She went on to teach art at a junior-high and
high school.
In 1984 she discovered the world of ceramic dolls and dollmaking and set up a shop-studio, "Bambolandia" (which translates into "world of dolls"), where she began creating dolls, etchings, drawings and ceramics.
In 1988 she became a member of the "Global Doll Society" and participated in the main international competitions. Indeed, in the first competition Ms. Perini took part, in London, 1989, she won the first and third prizes. In Stavanger, Norway, 1991, two of her dolls won first prize and another a third prize. In Brighton, England, March 1992, she was awarded the first prize. And in September 1992 she won the most prestigious "Mathias Wanke Trophy."
Ms. Perini appears in the 1991 and 1994 "Directory of Doll Art." These days "Bambolandia" is a thriving art house, and Ms. Perini's new dolls are sought after by a great number of collectors around the world.
In recent years Ms. Perini began exhibiting her dolls in trade fairs in Europe and North America. Since 1996, she has been participating in the leading toy show, the "Nuremberg International Toy Fair." In January 1997 she began offering her dolls at U.S. trade shows. First at IDEX, Arlignton, Texas, and later, February, at the "New York Toy Fair." Ms. Perini will continue to appear in these two shows annually.
